  • Deadline for Fire Station Construction Grant Applications Is July 10
    July 1, 2009 -- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Fire Station Construction grant application period will end at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 10, 2009. Fire Station Construction grants will provide funding directly to fire departments on a competitive basis to build new or modify existing fire stations in order to enhance response capabilities and better protect communities from fire and fire-related hazards. The Fire Station Construction grants were derived from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Congress appropriated a total of $210 million for Fiscal Year 2009 for this program.

Of the
Shreveport Fire Fighters Association
    

     The Shreveport Firefighters Association Local-514 has a long, proud and spirited history. A history that is based on the hard work and dedication of it’s leaders and members who gave their time, their efforts and their resources for the common goal of a better quality of life for our Brothers and Sisters of the Shreveport Fire Department. Since inception our organization has been a leading force in securing and maintaining benefits on a local level and at our state house.
 

     The Shreveport Fire Fighters Association, Local-514 represents more than 550 full-time Professional Firefighters who protect our 200,000 plus citizens and 112 square miles of metropolitan & suburban property.

          Local 514 members are thereby guided by the following principles:

          • Pride, the pursuit of excellence, and commitment to public service is of 
            paramount importance
          • Value to the community is measured in the type and quality of services provided.
          • To uphold the Constitution and By-Laws of the IAFF and Local 514.
          • Of promotion of a safe and healthy working environment.
          • Of promoting the establishment of just and reasonable working conditions.
          • Of promoting harmonious relations between fire fighters and their employer.
